Welcome to the 6

Beef Industry Conference!

O

out the challenge of turning an idea or concept

into money. And then, to make money we have to

compete against other suppliers in a global market which

speaks to the need to have world class solutions for our

beef industry. After all, Alberta is action central when you

look at value added beef production and we should be

striving for world class solutions to drive this industry.

On behalf of the five sponsoring organizations and our

Conference Committee I would like to welcome you to the

6th annual Alberta Beef Industry Conference. We have

lined up a terrific program of speakers in both locally and

from around the world. Our schedule allows plenty of time

for delegates to visit the trade show and socialize over the

course of two days.

Since our last conference there has been a significant

amount of activity within the beef industry, its

organizations and in government. The new Alberta

Livestock and Meat Strategy, announced in June presents

a real opportunity for us to work with government to move

this industry forward. So, we have decided to kick off the

conference with a session on ALMS, followed by speakers

from around the world who will share their insights on the

beef business. To round out the program we have invited

a few of our perennial favorites to join us again this year.

Tying this all together is Danny Hooper the ever popular

MC who adds that extra sparkle to the event.

Our Taste of Alberta and Auction take place on Thursday

night where we feature some of our best home grown

foods. Our wrap up banquet on Friday night will play host

to a number of VIPs we would like to acknowledge for

their support to our industry. The TR3 band is back by

popular demand. In closing I would like to thank everyone

who participated in the ABIC last year and I look forward

to seeing you again.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Brunette
