The Organization

Formed by a group of dealers who recognized a need for self-sufficient cattle dealers to have a voice, the Alberta Livestock Dealers and Order Buyers Association (ALDOBA) is a not for profit volunteer organization formed under the Societies Act on June 29, 1995. As a progressive, active organization that is aware of the changing landscape, we have the ability to deliver solutions.

Since its creation in 1995, ALDOBA has had a strong voice across many issues facing our members. We participated in the privatization of LIS. We have been representatives on CCIA, CLDA, and ABP'S formation of CIC. From 1995 through the BSE situation, ALDOBA was instrumental in helping set up the competitive bid and set aside programs that helped relieve some of the stress of the BSE situation. ALDOBA was also in the forefront of the redesign of the Patron's Assurance Fund.

It is our goal to ensure timely, efficient transfer of livestock ownership provincially, nationally and internationally. ALDOBA has been instrumental in the formulation or the pending Livestock Identification and Commerce Act. This act will address the conversion issue, which has plagued the industry for many years. From this point, the issues and goals are only limited by technology, international trade rules, and humane treatment of livestock.
